COACH’S & UMPIRES CODE OF ETHICS

Coaches will:

o   Keep in mind that the player is the most important part of the program and that learning and developing is more important than winning.

o   Understand the rules of the game and share that understanding with the players.

o   Treat players fairly and equally

o   Refrain from abusive or offensive language

o   Maintain a neat appearance

o   Be prompt

o   Display kindness, consideration and understanding towards the players

o   Share ideas and techniques with other coaches for the betterment of the league

o   Attempt to use all players at each position during the regular season

o   Be considerate of the other teams

o   Be well prepared for practices

o   Have a positive attitude at all times

o   Have a knowledge of first aid

o   Teach players to respect officials’ decisions

Coaches will not:

o   Offer players rewards for performance

o   Use offensive language

o   Solicit players for their own team

o   Physically or verbally abuse players

o   Use tobacco or alcohol prior to or while supervising players during practice or games

Non-compliance with this code of ethics will result in a review of the coach by the Neenah Baseball Inc. Board of Directors – Discipline Committee to determine disciplinary action.
Umpires are expected to:

o   Know the rules of the game

o   Be professional

o   Be on time

o   Be courteous

o   Be consistent and impartial

o   Refrain from abusive or offensive language

o   Be properly attired as governed by league rules

Questions or concerns should be  taken to the Umpire Coordinator

PLAYER’S & PARENT’S CODE OF ETHICS

Parents should:

o   Remember that youth are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, not yours

o   Encourage players to abide by the rules

o   Teach their children that honest effort is as important as winning

o   Help your child by working on skill development and good sportsmanship

o   Recognize the value and importance of our volunteer coaches

Parents should not:

o   Force an unwilling child to participate in sports

o   Publicly question a coach’s or umpire’s judgement or honesty

o   Ridicule or criticize a player for losing or any other reason

o   Condone physical or verbal abuse of players

If any parent/guardian is verbally or physically abusive to a coach, umpire, or player, his/her child may be suspended from the league. This decision will be made by the Neenah Baseball Inc. Board of Directors – Discipline Committee after a review of the situation.
Players should

o   Realize they are representatives of the Neenah Baseball Organization and their parents

o   Follow Neenah Baseball Organization rules

o   Learn the rules and regulations of the game

o   Learn the necessary skills to play the game

o   Conduct themselves in a positive manner

o   Respect other players, coaches and umpires

o   Be a team player

o   Recognize that coaches, not parents, are the primary source of instruction in the game

o   Be prompt at all practices and games. Coaches may reduce playing time for excessive unexcused absences and/or unacceptable behavior

Any player removed from a game for misconduct may be suspended for the next game
Chronic discipline problems will be brought before the Neenah Baseball Inc. Board of Directors – Discipline Committee.
