Neenah Baseball is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. All parents are required to volunteer in some capacity to ensure players, parents, and umpires have a great baseball experience every season.
One of the most critical volunteer options as well as the most frequently chosen, are the Concession Stand slots. It's always a lot of fun to see the kids go up and grab a hot dog or a slushie after their game, and our concession volunteers are a key part of bringing smiles to their faces! Plenty of volunteer slots will be available, both during the regular season and also for our two Summer Clash tournament weekends. Concessions from Summer Clash weekends are the biggest contribution to our funding every year, helping offset the costs of many of our programs and allows us to maintain and improve fields and equipment.
New this year we have additional benefits for certain volunteer positions such as Board Members, League Coordinators and Committee members, and Coaches. Check out all the details and see if you are interested in taking a larger role in Neenah Baseball!
Each parent of each player is required to choose a volunteer option during registration. Options include coaching, being an active league committee member or league coordinator, concession stand slots, you could choose to purchase a volunteering buyout, having your company sponsor a league team, or becoming an executive board member.
Here is a simple scenario. Mom and Dad are registering Billy to play Junior Little League this year. Under each parent in the registration, they check the Concession Volunteer slot. In April, the Concession DIBS are released (this is how you sign up for your concessions slot). Dad signs up for a DIBS slot on a Tuesday evening. Mom signs up for a slot on Saturday of the 2nd Summer Clash weekend. Both Mom and Dad attend their time slots, sign into the sheet at the beginning of their shift, and sling hotdogs and pretzels for 90 minutes. At the end of the season, their slots have been fulfilled, and they are not charged any more money. (or, if they paid it up front during registration, they are refunded the Unfilled Concession slot fee)
In 2025 we are opening up benefits for other volunteer options. This brings a lot of new volunteer scenarios to outline for you. If you have any questions, please just contact us!
Executive Board Member
Board members attend monthly meetings to discuss baseball business, make decisions about the future of NBI, and also tend to be the people who help run many projects and committees.
If you are an executive board member, you receive volunteering credit for yourself and your spouse, covering all children in the family. In addition, Executive Board members will receive a 50% discount on league player fees, both for summer and fall ball.
League Coordinator
League Coordinators build the rosters and the schedule for their league, answer questions about the rules, sometimes recruit coaches for the teams, and deal with issues throughout the season, and most attend the monthly board meetings.
This includes the overall Fall Ball League Coordinator position, which you could volunteer for during the summer registration, and then receive the benefits listed for the summer registration as well. (Contact the NBI president about this option)
If you are a league coordinator, you receive volunteering credit for yourself and your spouse, covering all children in the family. In addition, League Coordinators will receive a 25% discount on all league player fees, both for summer and fall ball.
Committee Member
Committee volunteers take on a variety of tasks across the organization, including Equipment Manager, Concessions Director or Associate, the Marketing Team, among many others.
If you are a Committee Member, you receive volunteering credit for yourself and your spouse, covering all children in the family. In addition, Committee Members will receive a 25% discount on all league player fees, both for summer and fall ball.
League Head Coach
Head coaches have an important role in your player's fun and development throughout the season. They teach them the game and teach them how to be good teammates but also spend a lot of time communicating with parents and making up the lineup, and adjusting the lineup, and adjusting the lineup...
League Head coaches will receive volunteer credit for themselves and for their spouse, for the player they are coaching. The League Head coach will also be credited for any other player volunteer slots they register for. If there is a 2nd player that the Head coach is not coaching, the spouse will need to do one volunteer option for that 2nd player, but the League Head coach is already credited with their coaching role.
League Assistant Coaches
League Assistant Coaches will get volunteer credit for themselves and the spouse will still need to choose a volunteer slot.
Tournament Head and Assistant Coaches
Tournament Head and Assistant coaches have a large time commitment throughout the season and offseason including winter workouts and Hitter's Count sessions, practices beyond league during the season, and several full weekends.
Coaches at the tournament level (up to four total coaches per team) will receive volunteer credit for both themselves and their spouses.
Concessions Volunteer Slot
When Concessions Volunteer slots are chosen, the parent must sign up for a concessions slot and attend that timeslot / sign the sheet during their shift, in order to fulfill their obligation. If a concessions slot is chosen during registration, and the slot is NOT fulfilled, parents will be charged $100 for each unfilled slot, up to a maximum of $400 per family.
During the registration process, when choosing concessions volunteer slots, you may choose to pay the $100 up front per slot and be refunded at the end of the season, or to defer the payment until after the season, and NBI then cancels an upcoming transaction at the end of the season as they review the sign in sheets, or lets the transaction go through for unfilled slots.
Concessions Volunteer slots can be fulfilled during league nights or during Summer Clash weekends, both count the same. Neenah baseball strongly requests that parents of tournament players who choose Concessions Volunteer slots during registration, signs up for their slots during either of the Summer Clash weekends.
Concession Volunteer DIBS shifts must be signed up using the parent names for tracking purposes, but other adults or children 16 or older may attend the shift in their place and sign in for the parent.
Buyout Option
In lieu of any other volunteer options, you may choose the volunteer buyout of $75 per parent volunteer slot during registration. There will be a maximum buyout per family of $300.
